Prof. Brian Cox visits the astonishing Large Hadron Collider (LHC), Geneva, designed to recreate the conditions that existed immediately after the big bang.

Listen to an Interview

Taking a look around Cern's vast, 27km long machine the LHC, Cox joins the scientists who hope that the LHC will change our understanding of the early universe and solve some of its mysteries.

The LHC is sealed off to the outside world and contains the means to carry out a simulation experiment to try and create the remarkable conditions that existed just one billionth of a second after the Big Bang and possibly uncover the elusive Higgs boson.
