About The Eiger

One of Europe’s most fearsome and majestic mountains, the Eiger is profiled in this stunning film.

The EIger

Situated in the Swiss Alps, this 4,000m-plus mountain has a long and impressive history, mentioned in records as far back as the 13th century. The first ascent of the mountain’s ridges and peaks was made by Swiss guides Christian Almer and Peter Bohren, and Irishman Charles Barrington in 1958, but since then over 50 climbers have lost their lives on its various ridges and walls (including the infamous North Wall, or The Nordwand).

This film profiles one of the most challenging mountains, and specifically The Nordwand by exploring its character and its impact on the people who climb it and live in its awesome shadow.
