Snakes are the stuff of some people's nightmares, but not ours! An incredible feat of biological engineering, snakes cannot fail to impress.

Burmese Python
Burmese pythons are part of the constricting group of snakes, wrapping their strong coils around their prey and squeezing the life out of them. They have recently been released into the Florida Everglades, causing problems for local wildlife.

Red-tailed boa (a sub species of Boa constrictor) can be found in the Brazilian rainforest.

Western Diamondback Rattlesnake
This western diamondback rattlesnake is coiled to strike. Waggling its rattle behind its head to intimidate and with its mouth bared and fangs on show, it is best to back away from this incredible American snake.

Monocled Cobra
Cobra's flair their hoods in order to intimidate. The circle pattern on the back of its head may resemble an eye in order to protect the snake from attack from behind.

Black Mamba
Black mambas are so called because of their jet black colouring on the inside of their mouths. They are also one of the fastest snakes.

Anacondas are the largest of all the snakes, spending most of their time submerged in water digesting or waiting for their next meal.
