His epic journey around this giant circle of latitude sees Simon travel through Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Madagascar, Western Australia, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil. As well as witnessing all the stunning scenery these countries have to offer, it gave Simon a chance to make some shocking discoveries about the changing global environment, poverty, globalisation, AIDS, the rise of the Chinese economy and the suffering of Africa.

The first episode of the series sees Simon travel from Namibia to Botswana, where he journeys across deserts and meets Bushmen of the Kalahari. Then it’s South Africa to Madagascar, where he discovers giant rats clearing landmines in Mozambique and eats zebu penis soup in Madagascar.

In Australia Simon spots whales migrating south to Antarctica and meets Aboriginal communities, while from Chile to Brazil sees him exploring Chile’s Atacama Desert and hunt with the Wichi community in Argentina.
